Detailed Privacy Policy

1. Introduction and Data Controller

DRIVER & BUTLER (D&B) attaches the highest importance to the protection of your personal data and your privacy. This policy is designed to inform you, in a transparent manner, about how we collect, use, and store your personal information. This process is conducted in strict compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (Loi Informatique et Libertés). The data controller for our services is reachable at contact@driverandbutler.com for any inquiry regarding your personal files.

2. Nature of Data Collected

We collect several categories of data to provide our luxury transport services:

  • Identity & Profile: Full legal name, title, and for professional Drivers, a copy of the professional license and valid identification.
  • Contact Information: Valid email address, mobile phone number for real-time coordination, and billing address.
  • Transactional Data: History of bookings, routes taken, and payment metadata processed via our secure partner STRIPE. No full credit card numbers are stored on our servers.
  • Geolocation: For the safety and efficiency of the service, we track the real-time location of the Driver and the Customer during the active duration of the trip.
  • Technical Logs: IP addresses, browser specifications, and device identifiers used to access our platforms.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

Your data is processed based on the following legal pillars:

Contractual Necessity: To fulfill the booking agreement between you and DRIVER & BUTLER, ensuring the chauffeur arrives at the correct location and time.
Legal Obligation: To meet transport (VTC) regulations, mandatory accounting practices, and tax reporting requirements.
Legitimate Interest: To prevent fraudulent activities, ensure the physical security of our partners and clients, and continuously improve our user interface.
Consent: For specific marketing communications, such as our monthly newsletter or promotional offers tailored to your travel habits.

4. Data Retention and Archiving

Data is not kept longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Active accounts are maintained for the duration of the commercial relationship. If an account remains inactive for 24 months, all personal data is purged or anonymized. Financial and billing records are archived for a mandatory period of 10 years as required by French commercial law. Identity documents used for Driver verification are deleted immediately once the profile is validated.

5. Data Transfers and Recipients

D&B operates a strict "need-to-know" access policy. Your data is only shared with:

  • Chauffeurs & Butlers: Only the name and pick-up location required to execute the mission.
  • Technical Partners: STRIPE for payment processing, and our cloud hosting providers within the EU.
  • Judicial Authorities: Only upon formal and legal request by authorized police or administrative services.

6. Your Rights Under GDPR

As a data subject, you hold comprehensive rights over your information. You may request access to your personal files, rectification of any error, or the erasure (right to be forgotten) of your profile. You also have the right to portability, allowing you to move your data to another service provider in a structured format. To exercise any of these rights, please send your request accompanied by proof of identity to contact@driverandbutler.com. Our team will respond within 30 days.

Our website uses functional cookies to remember your preferences and analytical cookies to understand how users interact with our site. You can choose to accept or refuse these cookies via the banner displayed upon your first visit. Detailed settings are available in your browser preferences to block all third-party tracking.
