Napoléon Bonaparte Airport, the port and Ajaccio station
Ajaccio Napoléon Bonaparte Airport (AJA), formerly Campo dell'Oro, lies about 5 km east of the centre, at the head of the gulf. Year-round flights link it to Paris-Orly, Marseille, Nice, Lyon and Toulouse; in season, many more French cities, including Nantes, and a few European destinations are added. Give your flight number when you book: your chauffeur tracks your actual landing time. As an option, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign.
The port of Ajaccio, right in the city centre, receives ferries all year round from Marseille, Toulon and Porto Torres in Sardinia and, in summer, from Nice. It is also one of the major cruise calls in the Mediterranean: we wait for you outside the terminal for a day trip or a transfer to the airport.
Next door, the Chemins de fer de la Corse station has trains to Bastia in about three and a half hours, via Corte. Give your arrival time when you book: your chauffeur adjusts to the actual time.
You can follow your flight or train live on our flight tracking and train tracking pages.
Business travel, meetings and conferences (MICE)
The Palais des Congrès et des Expositions d'Ajaccio, on quai L'Herminier, looks straight onto the harbour. It has the 434-seat Pascal Paoli auditorium, several meeting rooms, the 920 m² Napoléon Bonaparte exhibition hall and a 1,000 m² flexible space for up to 650 people. The airport is only about ten minutes away by car.
Ajaccio is also popular for incentive trips and off-site meetings: hotels along the gulf, dinners facing the Sanguinaires Islands, days at sea. Distances look short on the map, but the roads inland and along the west coast are winding, so a chauffeur who knows the area saves you valuable time.
For companies, agencies and event organisers:
- transfers between the airport, the port, hotels and event venues, in sedans and vans;
- chauffeur by the hour or by the day, on request, for visits or back-to-back meetings;
- corporate account with monthly invoicing and negotiated rates;
- Factur-X (EN 16931) electronic invoices and the carbon footprint of every ride, calculated with the ADEME method.
For an event or regular volume, tell us what you need on our business and partners page.
Extend your stay: Napoleon, the gulf and Corsican villages
One more day after your meetings, or a cruise call to fill? Ajaccio works well for short visits and longer excursions alike, mixing history, sea and mountains.
- Napoleon's home town: the Emperor was born in Ajaccio on 15 August 1769. His birthplace, the Maison Bonaparte on rue Saint-Charles, is now a national museum. Nearby are the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, where he was baptised, and place Foch, a stone's throw from the market on place Campinchi.
- The Palais Fesch: bequeathed to the city by Cardinal Fesch, Napoleon's uncle, this fine arts museum holds the largest collection of Italian paintings in France after the Louvre.
- The Sanguinaires Islands: four dark rocky islets at the mouth of the gulf. The coast road takes you some 12 km to the Pointe de la Parata and its Genoese tower, a favourite spot for the sunset. Boat trips leave from the Tino Rossi harbour in season.
- The villages of the west coast: Cargèse, founded by families who came from Greece, still has two churches facing each other, one of the Latin rite, the other of the Greek rite. Further north, the Calanques de Piana and the Gulf of Porto, with the Scandola nature reserve, have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.
- The south of the island: Bonifacio, perched on its limestone cliffs facing Sardinia, makes a full day out, as do Porto-Vecchio and its beaches.
For local flavours, try Corsican charcuterie, brocciu, a fresh sheep's or goat's milk cheese, and wines from the Ajaccio appellation, made largely from the sciaccarellu grape. Every year around 15 August, the Napoleonic Days bring the old town to life with parades, re-enactments and fireworks. Travelling from further afield, including Asia? Your chauffeur sets the pace of the day and drops you as close as possible to each site.
