Geneva Airport, Lyon Airport and Annecy station

Annecy Mont-Blanc Airport, in Meythet, has had no scheduled flights since the Paris route ended in 2013; it now serves business and leisure aviation. For most travellers, the gateway is Geneva Airport (GVA), about 45 km north via the A41 motorway. Transfers between Geneva Airport and Annecy city centre or the railway station are charged at a fixed price (see the sample prices above).

Geneva Airport has two sides: the Swiss side and the French sector, which cars reach along the customs road from Ferney-Voltaire. Give your flight number when you book: your chauffeur follows your actual arrival time. As an option, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign.

Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport (LYS) is about 145 km away, roughly an hour and a half by road when traffic is light.

Annecy railway station, right in the centre, has direct TGV trains to Paris-Gare-de-Lyon every day: allow about 3 hours 45 minutes on the fastest ones. Set between the lake and the mountains, Annecy hosts seminars, conventions and conferences all year round. The Centre de Congrès Impérial – Grand Annecy, on allée de l'Impérial, occupies a historic lakeside building. It offers 19 flexible rooms over five floors for up to 600 participants; the largest covers 562 m². In the town centre, Bonlieu, at 1 rue Jean-Jaurès, also hosts corporate events. The congress bureau of the Lake Annecy tourist office helps organisers find venues and accommodation.

Extend your stay: the lake, heritage, food and Mont Blanc

A meeting on Friday, one more day in the area: with a chauffeur at your disposal, you can explore Annecy without worrying about parking. Here are a few ideas.

• The old town: arcaded pedestrian streets along the Thiou and Vassé canals, which earned Annecy its nickname, the "Venice of the Alps". In the middle of the Thiou, the 12th-century Palais de l'Île was long used as a prison and now houses a museum of the town's history. Above it, Annecy Castle looks out over the rooftops.
• Animation: opened on 19 June 2026 in the Haras d'Annecy, the Cité internationale du cinéma d'animation brings together a permanent museum, exhibitions and a cinema.
• Around the lake: Talloires, Menthon-Saint-Bernard and its castle, said to be the birthplace of Saint Bernard of Menthon (open to visitors from April to November, on a seasonal schedule), the Gorges du Fier, or a boat cruise. Beneath the water, three prehistoric lake-dwelling sites are part of the Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011.
• Savoyard food: Reblochon, the PDO cheese of the Aravis, fondue and tartiflette, lake fish such as féra and Arctic char, and Savoie wines, mostly white.
• Mont Blanc: Chamonix, with the Aiguille du Midi cable car and the Montenvers train up to the Mer de Glace glacier; Megève, its village and chalets; and further on, Courchevel and the Three Valleys in winter.
• Geneva, less than an hour away: the harbour and its famous water jet, the old town, and the great watchmaking and jewellery houses for a day of shopping.

Highlights of the year: the Venetian Carnival at the end of winter, the Animation Film Festival in June, the Fête du Lac and its huge fireworks show on the first Saturday of August (access to the centre is tightly controlled that day, so allow extra time), and the Retour des Alpages, when herds come down from the mountain pastures, in the old town in October.
