Avignon TGV station, Marseille Provence Airport and business aviation

Most visitors reach Avignon by train. Avignon TGV station, on place de l'Europe, stands on the Courtine peninsula, less than 6 km south of the historic centre. The fastest direct TGVs reach Paris-Gare-de-Lyon in about 2 hours 40 minutes. Avignon-Centre station, on boulevard Saint-Roch, sits just outside the city walls; it mainly handles regional TER trains, including the shuttle on the "virgule" link that reaches the TGV station in a few minutes.

For scheduled flights, the airport most travellers use is Marseille Provence (MRS), at Marignane, south of Avignon by motorway. Transfers between the airport and central Avignon, or between the TGV station and the airport, are charged at a fixed price (see the sample prices above).

Avignon-Provence Airport (AVN), at Montfavet, about ten minutes from the city, no longer has scheduled flights: it serves private and business aviation. Your chauffeur can meet you when your jet lands.

Give your flight or train number when you book: your chauffeur follows your actual arrival time. As an option, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall or on the platform with a name sign. You can follow your flight or train live on our flight tracking and train tracking pages.

Business travel, meetings and conferences (MICE)

Avignon offers a rare setting for a corporate event: the Palais des Papes Convention Centre is set within the monument itself, right in the historic centre. The Conclave room seats up to 536 people for a conference. For a gala dinner, the Grande Audience (820 m²) and the Grand Tinel (498 m²) welcome several hundred guests.

For trade fairs and large gatherings, Avignon Parc Expo, at 800 chemin des Félons in Montfavet, has seven single-level halls (about 15,000 m² in all), a 900-seat conference hall and 5,000 parking spaces. It lies close to Avignon-Provence Airport and the A7 and A9 motorways, and hosts Cheval Passion, a major horse show, every year in mid-January.

For companies, agencies and event organisers:

  • transfers between stations, airports, hotels and event venues, in sedans and vans;
  • chauffeur by the hour or by the day for wine estate visits or back-to-back meetings;
  • corporate account with monthly invoicing and negotiated rates;
  • Factur-X (EN 16931) electronic invoices and the carbon footprint of every ride, calculated with the ADEME method.

For an event or regular volume, tell us what you need on our business and partners page.

Extend your stay: heritage, wine and Provençal villages

A meeting on Friday, one more day in the area: with a chauffeur at your disposal, Avignon makes an ideal base. UNESCO heritage, great wines, Provençal food and hilltop villages are all within easy reach.

  • Avignon itself: the historic centre has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995. It includes the Palais des Papes, home of the popes in the 14th century and described as the largest Gothic palace in Europe, the episcopal ensemble, the Rocher des Doms gardens and the Pont Saint-Bénézet, of which four arches survive. Until 15 November 2026, the palace hosts an installation by the artist Lee Ufan.
  • Food: Les Halles covered market on place Pie gathers about forty traders behind a green wall designed by Patrick Blanc (closed on Mondays); on Saturday mornings, chefs give cooking demonstrations there. A local treat to take home: the papaline d'Avignon, a chocolate filled with Comtat oregano liqueur.
  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape, north of Avignon: the popes had their summer residence here, and its keep still stands. The vineyard is famous for its large rounded pebbles, which give back the day's heat at night, and for its blended wines led by Grenache. Gigondas and Tavel are close by.
  • Orange: the Roman theatre and triumphal arch, UNESCO-listed since 1981. In summer the theatre hosts the Chorégies, an opera festival.
  • The Luberon: Gordes, a hilltop village listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, the Village des Bories, and the Cistercian Sénanque Abbey, founded in 1148 and surrounded by lavender in summer.
  • The Pont du Gard, a 1st-century Roman aqueduct almost 49 m high, UNESCO-listed since 1985; and Arles, with its Roman and Romanesque monuments (UNESCO, 1981), Van Gogh's town and the LUMA Arles tower.

Highlights of the year: the Festival d'Avignon and the Festival Off in July, the Chorégies d'Orange in summer, the Parcours de l'Art in October and the Christmas markets in December. The city is very busy in July, so book your chauffeur early.
