Metz-Ville station and the airports around Metz

Metz-Ville station, built between 1905 and 1908, is one of the city's landmarks: it was voted France's most beautiful station in 2017. Direct TGV trains reach Paris-Est in about 1 hour 25 minutes on the high-speed line, and other services run to Strasbourg, Nancy and Luxembourg. Give your train number when you book: your chauffeur follows your actual arrival time.

Metz-Nancy-Lorraine Airport (ETZ), in Goin, lies some 20 km south of Metz. It has a limited number of scheduled routes, including flights to Algeria.

For most European and international flights, travellers use Luxembourg Airport (LUX), about 70 km north via the A31 motorway, or the major hub at Frankfurt. We cover both at a fixed price (see the sample prices above). Give your flight number when you book: your chauffeur tracks your actual landing time. As an option, your driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign.

The Centre des Congrès Robert-Schuman, on rue aux Arènes, opened in 2018 a short walk from the station and the Centre Pompidou-Metz. Designed by the Wilmotte practice, it has an auditorium for up to 1,200 people, two modular halls totalling 3,400 m² and a range of meeting rooms.

On the east side of the city, Metz Expo hosts trade fairs and large events, including the Metz International Fair, held every year from late September to early October. Being close to Luxembourg and Germany also makes Metz a convenient meeting point for businesses across the Greater Region.

Extend your stay: art, heritage and the flavours of Lorraine

One more day after your meetings? Metz is easy to explore, and Lorraine has plenty to offer anyone who enjoys art, history and good food. A few ideas with a chauffeur.

• Saint-Étienne Cathedral: its nave rises more than 41 metres and its stained glass covers almost 6,500 m², which earned it the nickname “God's lantern”. Some of the windows are by Marc Chagall.
• The Centre Pompidou-Metz, opened in 2010, is instantly recognisable by its great woven roof designed by Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines; it stages major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art.
• The Imperial Quarter, around the station, and the old town built in honey-coloured Jaumont stone: together they are on France's tentative list for World Heritage status as “Metz royale et impériale”. The Porte des Allemands, the Temple Neuf and the covered market punctuate the walk.
• Nancy, about 60 km away: Place Stanislas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983, and the legacy of the École de Nancy; Lorraine is also a land of fine crystal.
• Verdun: the 1916 battlefield, the Douaumont Ossuary and the Memorial, for a day of remembrance west of Metz.
• Luxembourg, about 60 km to the north: its clifftop old town, its luxury boutiques and major fashion houses.

Through the year, summer belongs to the free Constellations festival, with digital artworks projected onto the cathedral in the evening; the Mirabelle Festival follows in late August, then the Christmas market from late November to late December. For local flavours: the mirabelle plum in every form, quiche lorraine and Moselle wines. For visitors from further afield, including Asia, the trip extends easily to Strasbourg, Reims or Paris, and we drive you door to door.
